Barn Owl 16th June 2007
I had some breathtaking views of a Barn Owl this afternoon as I was coming across the Moss. It flew over the field to the far side and then quartered the land looking for prey, very low and acrobatic. They really are wonderful to watch. It didn't come close enough for a decent photo but you can make it out toward the bottom right of the picture. This one had a lovely coppery glow across the wings contrasting with the pale body.

When Dad was really weak I told him I'd seen a Barn Owl on the Moss. He managed to raise up his hands and imitated the flight of the owl with a really good likeness. It must have been a lovely memory for him, he looked so peaceful as he rememberd it's flight.
Thanks Phil - Dad was very good at that sort of thing!
